FCKeditor - the WYSIWYG editor for Drupal.

Drupal WYSIWYG editor - logoWelcome to the demo site of the FCKeditor module. This site contains some information about the project, as well as space for testing and playing with it. Information on this site refers to the 5.x release of the FCKeditor module (5.x-2.x).

6.x version of FCKeditor module is also available (compatible with Drupal 6), it works very similarly to 5.x series.

FCKeditor is a Rich Text Editor which can replace the default plain text fields with a nice visual HTML editor (WYSIWYG).

Some features of FCKeditor:

  • built-in file browser
  • ready to use plugins for <!--break-->and <!--pagebreak--> tags
  • each user may have it's own configuration (choose skin, toolbar, language, default state of FCKeditor, etc.)
  • and much more!

Please note that due to security reasons, FCKeditor functionality in comments in this demo site is limited. In fact, you can do with FCKeditor much more than it is shown here - take a look at FCKeditor demo to have an overview of all available features. If you are wondering why the toolbar is reduced and some buttons are missing, take a look at an article about configuring input formats. Remember that you don't have to use all features that FCKeditor offers, you can disable any button you want and make it lighter.

Changes made on this site to the default FCKeditor module installation:

  • Styles are applied with <font> tag to pass the Filtered HTML input format, as described in the configuring input formats article. The following buttons have been added: 'FontName', 'FontSize', 'TextColor'. It is possible to use inline styles instead of font tags with Full HTML input format.
  • Spellchecker has been configured to use 'SpellerPages' and the 'SpellCheck' button has been added.
  • Added new buttons: linktocontent and linktonode (experimental plugins, currently available only in 5.x-2.x-dev)

Test

Let's see how this works.

I want to throw in a link to drupal.org.

Testing to see if works on firefox

managed to have it work in IE 6 but not in Firefox 2 in my test site. Images don't show for example. This is why I'm trying to see if they do here.

Now what I really need to know is how to use this inside my Drupal installation

AS I installed the module in my sites/all/modules folderThen activated it in the modules section of administer
But now when I try to put a comment this editor doesn't show upPerhaps I will read through the documentation to see if I can learn how to do it. Otherwise will have to see the forums or something.

Thanks

Test of FCK

This is a test of FCK.

TUX is TOO big

Putting the editor through its paces

Here's some text followed by a list

  • Item 1
  • Item 2
  • Item 3

Some further text. I think that I'll play with fonts now, to see if bold underline etc. work ok...

This text is beside the image that was uploaded. It could have been aligned in a number of different ways.
