Please follow the instructions in attached README.txt file (unpack downloaded module and README.txt should be there).
Translated instructions are available in Administer -> Site configuration -> FCKeditor node.
If you can't find README.txt, then you've probably downloaded the wrong file.

How about adding a simple blog post with some images?

Follow the instructions from README.txt
Follow the instructions from README.txt and everything should work fine.
Consolidated Installation Instructions
Since the installation instructions are kind of scattered about (i.e., in the readme, a few pages on this site, miscellaneous other places on the Internet), I decided to compile all the steps necessary (for me) to install the FCKeditor module in one place. Available at http://xplus3.net/2008/05/29/how-to-install-fckeditor-on-drupal/.
Have a nice day,
Jonathan
